About 1 Player Dad

What’s up? I’m Ben, the author of 1 Player Dad. I’m a single dad who has shared parenting care of the awesomest daughter in the world, Esme (as verified by everyone who has ever met her), and i’m doing my thing in 1 Player Mode down in Wellington, the Coolest little city in the world, right here in Godzone, Aotearoa New Zealand.

1 Player Dad is a blog that shares my journey in becoming a single dad, and how I faced some of the challenges along the way – or, to put it another way, how I learned (and am still learning!) to play the two player parenting game in 1 Player mode.
Why? Why not? Because I can, that’s why!

All right, there’s a bit more to it than that. My first two years of being a single dad were a bugger of a journey, to say the least. However, after a long period of trial and error, hard work, and grinding through the days, I eventually got myself to a place where I felt I was beginning to work out how to manage this new role of being a single dad while working full-time and trying to chart a new course in life.

From there, I wanted to create something to help other guys going through a similar journey to avoid some of the mistakes I made so they can get themselves into a place where they can survive, manage and eventually thrive in their new role as a single dad.

Hahahahahahahahahaha!!! Hahahahahaha!! Hahaha! HA! Ha. Thanks for that, I love a good laugh

Nope, no expert here. I don’t know if such a guy even exists, and if he does (or thinks he does), then i’d have to assume he was taking the piss, or was talking about raising Pokemon on his own.

But I do know that I made a whole bunch of mistakes and took the long way in learning a lot of things in my initial stages of becoming a single dad, and if I can help others avoid some of those pitfalls, then i’ll be happy.

Not much these days! The 1 Player parenting game currently takes up most of my time, as well as other side projects i’m tinkering with like 1 Player Dad.

The last game I brought was Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (which is probably sitting at something like 14% completion), but i’ve been into gaming and video game culture since I was knee-high to a grasshopper.

At the moment i’m working as a Project Manager in the health promotion sector, where I get to work on some exciting projects that promote health and wellbeing in Aotearoa New Zealand.

Other than that, i’m an almost-retired bboy (break dancer) and comic book geek who likes to do cool stuff and help people.
